About me

I feel truly blessed to live in New Zealand, one of the most beautiful countries in the world ( hey, I might be a little biased ). Where the adventures are always at our finger tips.

I grew up camping, kayaking and rafting with my family and extended family and a good weekend away meant returning with scrapes to my legs and lots of adventuring stories to tell.

I met my husband 25 years ago ( yes we were at primary school ; )) and lucky for me he shared my love of the outdoors. Together we have had many great NZ adventures along with our fabulous group of friends; Great Barrier Island, East Coast, Slipper Island, Tahwaranui camping…you get the idea!

Along the way we picked up a love of mountain biking and before kids you could always find us at Woodhill Mountain Bike Park on a Sunday morning.

After we adjusted to having children in our lives ( and to be honest it was a slow adjustment ) we slowly got back into our adventuring and mountain biking.

I thought I was making the most of my life but then when I found out several friends not much older than me had cancer I realised that I really wanted to make the most of every moment. So lets call this my mid-life crisis : )

So we walked Tongariro Crossing with our kids, road tripped round the South Island for 3 weeks and started ticking mountain bike trails off the list amongst other things and then people started to ask me where we went and what we did and I realised that as people are time poor they are looking for tips and tricks on where to go and what to do from someone like them who has done them already and made a list of where to stay, what to do and what to pack ( did I mention I like lists?)

As well as loving the outdoors I have always loved baking and am always being asked for recipes so I decided to include that as well along with other tips and tricks I have picked up along the way.

Yours in making the most of every moment!!

Fun facts:

  • Along with the outdoors the things that bring me joy are; family, friends, baking, cooking, baking and cooking for my family and friends, planning, planning for my family and friends ( sometimes my husband wishes I planned a bit less ), oh and dancing and singing
  • I have endometriosis and PCOS and may have had a tantrum in the specialists room when I found out I developed sinusitis ( who knew congested sinuses could be so painful )
  • The older I get the more I don’t like wasting my time. I will look for any way to speed up a mundane task (and I consider mundane anything that gets in the way of fun )
  • I love colour and accessories and a friend’s mother once said to me ‘that’s a lot of accessories but you can pull it off’. I don’t usually combine my love of accessories with my love of mountain biking
